A weekend course covering the essentials of female hygiene in Islam - coming of age, removing hair, performing ghusl (the ritual bath), haydh, istihadha and nifas. This free two day course is a must for Muslim girls and women of all ages, being particularly useful for those young women who are approaching the age of puberty and aims to discuss some of the changes in the female body during the period of adolescence and impart the related Islamic rulings in a sensitive and supportive environment. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A with the esteemed teachers.

Who is this course for?

This program is open to sisters only. We encourage mothers and daughters to attend together.

Course instructor

The course will be led by Ustadha Asia Hussain and Ustadha Bareera Riaz, graduates of Nur ul Ilm Academy (UAE).

Location

This course will be held at the Al Masjid Darnley Musalla (70 Woodhead Rd, Glasgow G53 7NN).

Date & Time

Saturday 26th April and Sunday 27th April, from 3pm to 6pm. This includes time for Q&A and comfort breaks.

Topics & Content

The following subjects will be covered over the two day course:

  • Coming of age in Islam: Exploring the meaning, signs, and importance of reaching maturity in Islamic teachings.
  • How to perform Istinjaa' properly: Learning the correct method and its crucial importance.
  • Wudhu (ablution) and Ghusl (the ritual bath): A guide to the proper way of bathing according to the Sunnah.
  • Ḥayḍ, Istiḥāḍa and Nifās: Understanding the rulings related to menstruation, non-menstrual bleeding, and postpartum bleeding in Islam.
  • Hair removal: Understanding the Islamic guidelines on when, why, and how.
  • Masa'il for young people: Addressing common issues and rulings related to Taharah (cleanliness and purity) in their daily lives.
  • Masa'il for the school and workplace: Exploring practical Islamic rulings concerning cleanliness, prayer, and related matters in these environments.
  • Advice to parents: Guidance on effectively teaching children about Taharah, puberty-related rulings, and other relevant Islamic principles.
